Vietnam Hope South Korea to Participate in Transportation Projects

That was the opinion of the Minister of Transport, Nguyen Van The, in the meeting and working with South Korean Ambassador in Vietnam - Lee Hyuk in the morning of November 12.

Investment in VietnamAt the meeting, Minister Nguyen Van The said that "In recent years, Vietnam and South Korea have many cooperative programs in the field of transport. For example, the southern coastal ring road project, Highway 18 in Quang Ninh province, Vinh Thinh bridge in Hanoi, etc".  He affirmed that the cooperation in the above projects contributed to tightening the relationship between two countries in the field of transport.

According to the leaders of the Ministry of Transport, Vietnam is currently carrying out many large projects in the transport sector. There are high-speed rail projects, expressway projects, Long Thanh airport that are receiving deep interest from the Government. However, due to the capital shortage, Vietnam is currently calling for investment capital from domestic and foreign investors.

Minister Nguyen Van The welcomed and expressed his desire for South Korean experts, investors and businesses to share their experiences and consultancy in these projects, and from this chance, South Korean enterprises could participate in these transport projects of Vietnam.

Ambassador Lee Hyuk said that "South Korea is now one of the largest investors in Vietnam. At present, investors and enterprises wishes to participate in key projects in Vietnam and share experiences and technologies in these projects. Ambassador Lee Hyuk expressed his hope that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, along with the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam would soon sign a memorandum of understanding on comprehensive cooperation in the field of transportation to further develop the cooperation relationship between the two parties.
